Here I will provide all evidence and information showing latest developments with this blocking to inform the public about the hazard as it evolves. The links to the searches beside each one will bring you to the search pages, but you must adjust search yourself to change the time period to compare. Make sure length of period is same for exact comparison (eg 57 month period). These searches help show that this is real evidence based on raw USGS data.
I just dug up the most shocking evidence that indeed, plates are blocked! This map is for 6+ earthquakes (large) and the time period is 2 1/2 months. I have evidence that plates are not moving, via lack of subduction zone activity WORLDWIDE. Notice how the 2 closest to subduction are only at plate corners. No real signs of any subduction zone earthquakes outside the 2 pressure points that formed near the blocking (where it has no choice but to give in to the pressure), and at plate corners, where 2 major plates meet. This is the ONLY period I can find that is like this. Look at the patterns carefully. Solid proof that plates are in a stalled position.
URGENT UPDATE 4:
Now this is something serious. This is an animation going through the current most recent 27 weeks, with a bunch of other periods same length to compare. So this image helps compare now to all these times when things were normal. Look at the huge difference. There is a major change going on.
URGENT UPDATE 3:
And in the last approx 2 months, the slowdown is now starting to get much more worrying and steep as this animation shows. Virtually all activity has stopped altogether, this shows last 58 days compared to 58day periods before the blocking became big, just look at the difference! pic.twitter.com/mWMe0YQP1f

URGENT UPDATE 2:
Yet another major development so this one goes above all the others. I am now tracking major signs that earthquakes are being capped in size, in particular keeping them at 6.1 and below across a huge portion of the Earth.
WOAH! I just redid this data using the new parameters omitting small earthquakes and focusing on large earthquakes. Just look at the difference!

Loop between all the previous normal periods and then now. This is bad. VERY BAD. Now that's one HELLUVA BLOCKING we got goin here! pic.twitter.com/yLTeE7zkcb
URGENT UPDATE: I am now placing this above all the rest that sits below. This is now the biggest evidence. There are now wide open signs of something exceptionally unusual as earthquakes are following a pattern more alarmingly abnormal than any others I have seen to date. Below explains everything.
Here you will see the glaringly obvious proof that something really unusual is happening as earthquakes are now only severely reduced, but across the entire red zone shown in the first map, all earthquakes are only appearing at plate/subduction zone edges. Notice here one shows up on either end of Alaska subduction zone, but nowhere between either.
And now the last 4 periods before the blocking started in 2017, to compare what it should look like.
You can check any other period of same length (these ones were all 21 weeks exactly), by searching on USGS website. Notice in these examples for preceding the blocking era, how lots of earthquakes are spread randomly around the red zone (around the Pacific rim). Even outside the red zone, things are abnormal. Subduction zones are only active in 2 concentrated areas, while the rest are quiet.
Need to store this "Global Seismic Activity Level" img. Seems like activity has actually decreased over the last 3 months. The more grey, the quieter it gets. Before it was more yellow, less grey, now it's less yellow, more grey.

It's getting progressively more and more quiet. 😬 pic.twitter.com/KYt0Ru9EKs
Next section shows earlier updates about the greatly decreasing subduction zone activity.
Due to the open span of subduction zone in the pressure point in west Indonesia, and near Fiji, they still have activity. But it is limited to there. Everywhere else is beholden to the blocking. This is really happening.

Asia. (click here for search). Loop animation of 57 month periods starting in the 1960s, to now. Large (6.7+) earthquakes. Notice the last 57 month period (happening right now). Earthquake activity has nearly halted entirely. All other periods in recorded history were full of earthquakes, nothing like this. Now, it looks very empty. That's the huge blocking at work.
UPDATE: It appears the blocking has been going on maybe more than 5 years now. 5 yr/1mo/10d to be exact. This loop is also more complete. ALL years since record taking began. 6.7+ earthquakes, Before the blocking, number of these events ranged from as low as 22, up to 48, typically in and around the 30s. Now, we suddenly got only 10 of them. Far below anything recorded before. This confirms, the blocking in Asia has produced a highly anomalous drop in seismic activity for over 5 years and we are way off course of what is considered a normal global situation. Strong evidence of a large scale blockage of tectonic plates. Now, both the entire Americas region and Asia are experiencing their slowest periods on record. It's no coincidence, it's because of a large scale blockage. THAT is a huge cause for concern.
Asia animation:
Here is a very critical chunk of evidence. It is in fact the very first thing that made me determine there was a blocking, before I even started seeing all this extra evidence of one, way back at the start of 2020.
The following information is critical because it demonstrates why the location of the blocking and upcoming massive earthquake is probably in Mindanao. Anyone near Mindanao needs to be on alert about this threat.
Notice the pattern of 5.6+ magnitude earthquakes in this search, which you can open yourself to have a better look. Looks like earthquakes started surging in this region (central Mindanao) in 2017, around the same time that signs of the blocking started to appear in Asia with that major slowdown in activity. Since 2017, it has been very active every other year. Activity takes breaks each in 2018 and 2020, then it comes back, like you see in 2021 also.
Look at all the dates on here, looks like something started happening from 2017 onwards. This is why I know it is not just some random activity. This doesn't happen without something major like say, 2 plates starting a collision.
Now let's use a different method with the same data to get a clear picture, let's compare last 2 years right up to now, to the entire 100 years preceding that period, to see just more much it has suddenly surged in the last 2 years. These show all earthquakes magnitude 5.6 and higher.
An area that had only 6 events recorded over the span of a century, had nearly double that amount in just the last 2 years alone! These have been coming fast enough that there is an obvious surge happening, yet they are spread over a long enough period (2019 to right now), that it is clear this is a sign of something major and ongoing. Among these earthquakes is a new one that happened just now, as of June 14, 2021.
The red star beside the Philippines on this map is the estimated location of the blocking.
Right now, plates show obvious signs of unusual activity. I theorize that the Pacific/Philippine plate had been pushing into the Eurasian plate and had hit a dead end, so it stalled, even as the mantle and mid ocean ridges kept pushing against it. As the mantle convection (driving force that moves plates) kept pushing on the stalled plate, pressure started to rise, including near the Mt Apo volcano formation area, distorting an area not used to this kind of pressure. This caused fault after fault to start rupturing in the same area. After a while, things firmed up and this process had slowed down.
This map is another interpretation of the same data from above. If you carefully study global data, it is highly unusual for there to be 5 earthquakes of 6.4+ in a span of only a year in an area this small, and those 4 earthquakes 6.4+ in a very short time span in a far smaller area. And even more strange is it being far from any plate boundaries and subduction zones. This is why I suggest that a sharp rise in pressure from an area being squeezed is the cause of it, and only a blocking appears capable of that.It is very likely that I have correctly identified the location of the blocking and upcoming massive earthquake - in South Mindanao the area that is only area on Earth experiencing a surge in activity, while all of the rest of Earth's most active regions is seeing theirs decline significantly. Also, the local geology in Mindanao points south most matches the characteristics of a zone most likely to contain blocking features. Japan had no surge in activity that would suggest anything is happening there, or Taiwan either, nor do they show signs as obvious as the Philippines, that something unusually large could be interfering with plate motion. It's certainly not hosting the blocking. This leads us to the conclusion that something in the thick Eurasian plate edge, southeast of Mindanao is blocking the normal movement and subduction of the Pacific/Philippine plate under the Eurasian plate.
Activity is unlikely to return to pre-2016 normal for the foreseeable future. Frequency of large (6+) earthquake events in the Americas is likely to remain significantly reduced. Same is likely for most of Asia. Concentration of most of Earth's significant seismic activity to areas in and around the tropical west Pacific is likely to continue. This will end when a massive cataclysmic magnitude 10 earthquake finally ruptures the pattern.
As time passes by, I will continue to monitor earthquake patterns, but I am finding the evidence so strong that plates are blocked, that I am certain that as time continues to pass by, and more earthquake data comes in, it will bolster the evidence that plates are blocked and that action should be taken to prepare for a likely disaster.
Evidence appears enough that precautionary measures should be taken to reduce the impact of a likely major tectonic event on communities all around the Pacific ring of fire, resulting from the eventual rupture of this blocking.
Hi. May I ask what is the reason for this blocking that you are discussing? Thank you.
